Oilseed YEN

In most regions of the UK, oilseed rape crops are capable of yielding around 9 tonnes of seed per hectare.

However, leading farms and research trials for oilseed rape often achieve in excess of 5 tonnes per hectare. The average commercial farm produces even less - around 3 tonnes per hectare, with little increase in over 10 years. Currently, growers across the UK and further afield are faced with an added challenge posed by Cabbage Stem Flea Beetle (CSFB). The network seeks to address how to successfully establish oilseed rape and maximise yields in all situations.

To complement the yield competition and full suite of benchmarked metrics received by each entrant, Oilseed YEN will now include an Establishment Beauty Contest.

Sponsorship

Corporate Sponsors support the network to maintain its core activities.  Their vital role is recognised in all YEN publicity, media items, conference presentations, and on this website.

Sponsors have a key role in steering the evolution of the network and its activities.  They have access to network information, intelligence and discussions to support their own yield enhancement initiatives.

Sponsors can also make multiple competition entries, and have multiple attendance at the annual YEN conference. A few sponsors will also contribute some or all of individual farmers membership fees. For more information, please contact the Oilseed YEN Project Manager.
