Knowledge-sharing network to improve the effectiveness of Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
IPM NET is a farm research network that seeks to improve understanding of IPM and promote effective IPM strategies. Members collect, share, and compare information from their farms to understand the effectiveness of different IPM approaches and their impact on yield, quality, and profitability.
ADAS established IPM NET in response to growing industry demand for practical, effective, and sustainable crop protection methods. IPM aims to reduce over-reliance on harmful pesticides by encouraging growers to incorporate biological, cultural, and physical pest control methods. Examples of IPM techniques include the selection of pest-resistant crop varieties and targeted chemical use.
Being part of IPM NET will help you review your IPM strategy, and identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve the efficiency, sustainability, and profitability of your farm.
IPM NET is free to join and open to any interested individual or organisation.
As a member, you will receive:
- updates on IPM resources, news, and opportunities.
- invites to relevant IPM events.
- opportunities to discuss and feedback on different IPM approaches.
Join us for the IPM NET conference on 13 February 2025
About the IPM NET Pilot
Defra is funding IPM NET as a pilot until March 2025 so farmers and agronomists can help define processes and requirements. The pilot is overseen by a steering committee of national experts and is supported by industry bodies.
A range of metrics have been selected to measure IPM impact. These build on existing IPM initiatives such as the Defra-funded IPM Test and Trial, DEFRA Pest & Disease Survey and the Horizon 2020 IPMWORKS project.
IPMNET works in close partnership with the EU AdvisoryNetPEST – a European network that supports agricultural and forestry advisors to reduce their use of pesticides.
The IPM NET Steering Group
The IPM NET steering committee is a governing body of independent stakeholders that oversee and support the development of IPM NET. The steering committee consists of organisations and individuals with expertise in IPM implementation and quantification as well as those representing the needs of farmers.
